Larry Sinclair Taken Apart by Opie and Anthony

Holy cow, and I thought he couldn't damage himself further. Sine-qua-Clair participated in a telephonic interview with Opie and Anthony. Bless 'em, they had at him and made him look a proper fool. You know his true believers just ain't gonna like this.

And he sounds like Fez (well, kind of).

Warning: not safe for work or children. Get your earbuds out, put down any foodstuffs or beverages, and prepare to hurt yourself laughing.

Larry Sinclair on The Opie and Anthony Show:
Part one
Part two
Part three
Each part lasts for approximately ten minutes.

Confirmed: Montgomery Blair Sibley suspended in DC and FLA

It's been confirmed.
Montgomery Blair Sibley, that "unending source of vexatious and meritless litigation," was given an official order of suspension from the Washington DC Bar. The order went into effect on 12 May, 2008. Overlawyered has located and posted the official order of suspension. In a post written earlier today, the site's Ted Frank wrote:
We had earlier held off pronouncing that Sibley was suspended in DC (in addition to Florida), because the DC Bar website was not updated, but we now have a copy of the May 8 suspension order, which was effective May 12, pending final disposition of the reciprocal disciplinary proceeding. Sibley had been representing Barack Obama-accuser Larry Sinclair in litigation against anonymous Democratic Underground blog commenters.
What are the chances that conspiracy theorists are going to hop all over this one? People unfamiliar with Sibley's history will claim that this is an effort by Dick Cheney / Barack Obama / the CIA to silence him due to his work for Deborah Palfrey or Larry Sinclair--anything rather than admit that the man has a problem with paying his child support, abusing the bar, or suing U S Supreme Court justices. Nope. It's more reasonable to claim Sibley's issues are all part of a cover up.

Update: Clinton's Campaign and Obama Smear Emails

The other day I posted about some questionable doin's among Hillary Clinton's campaign staffers in West Virginia. I received the information from a friend, who read the following series of comments from a blog that supports Larry Sinclair (you can Google him if you like):

Listen everybody. I just spoke to someone that was at the Hillary campaign camp in
West Virginia where she is today.

He gave me an email address and asked me to send as many emails on this as I can so he can hand it to several people there.

I just dont feel that there is that much time left as the scum bag is in Wash trying to pick up more superdelegates as I am typing.

SORRY TRY

crazedgoalie678@gmail.com [note: no longer a functioning account. See below]

---

My friend then sent an email to Clinton's WV headquarters asking if Senator Clinton's campaign really needed to get involved with this story. He cc'd it to all of the locations listed above as well as to the young man, "crazedgoalie678," who had spoken with Sinclair's supporter. On 5/14, The young man responded:

Hey, it's my email. I'm actually a volunteer, not a staffer. I'm off the campaign tomorrow, but seriously, these people would bombard us with calls non-stop so I just gave them my gmail. It's not a campaign account, and no one from the campaign is requesting information. People are providing us with it, I don't like it and I'm not using it for any purposes. I know it's all false anyways. The only way its a hillary staffer is if the email with it ends in hillaryclinton.com and i have no such thing.

A "thank you" sent in response to the young man's email bounced--he'd jacked the gmail address.

I admire that this young man responded, and moreso that he actually included his real name. I Googled him and saw that he's been intensely involved with the Senator's campaigns in NH, PA, and SC, as well. He even took a leave from university to do so.

Now, this young man's commitment to politics is commendable. It's admirable. I'd like to believe that he was just trying to shut "woman one" up by saying "yeah, yeah, just send it over and I'll have a look." That, however, is not the way she tells it (but, as Sinclair's supporters are a bit "excitable," it could be that she misinterpreted or exaggerated the fellow's response). On the other hand, if this young man stoops to encouraging and redistributing slanderous emails about the opposition's candidate, well, then. . . .it wouldn't be unheard of. Clinton's campaign and its supporters have been pretty good about sending out questionable emails. Remember the campaign staffers who lost their positions for circulating the "Manchurian Candidate" emails?

I'd like to make it clear that I do not think Clinton is "in on" trying to find this kind of dirt on Obama, and I do not think this nonsense affected the outcome in WV. But I do think it's questionable. And slimy.

And I applaud Senator Clinton's reactions to President Bush's comments in the Knesset. Very gracious, very democratic, and very patriotic.

Montgomery Blair Sibley Suspended in DC and FLA?

Poor Larry Sinclair.
He had one thing going for him to "get his case out there," to bring MSM attention to his accusations against Barack Obama that include drug abuse, illicit gay sex, murder, and intimidation. Among other things.

In February, Sinclair filed a lawsuit against Obama, David Axelrod, and the DNC for investigating him, intimidating him, and "actively preventing allegations" against Senator Obama from being brought forth. The Smoking Gun has the documents. The case was tossed out. For the court's decisions in that case, see the documents here.

So, moving onto tactic two, Sinclair files lawsuits against three bloggers who have "defamed" him. Rather than explore this aspect of Sinclair's saga on my blog, I'll direct you to DBKP for the full story. The point is that, in bringing the bloggers to trial, Sinclair hoped that the Obama story would be disclosed in court. This event, in Sinclair's supporters' view, would grant the tale some kind of legitimacy.

For his suit against the bloggers, Sinclair hired the notorious Montgomery Blair Sibley--a man who owes $100,000 in child support, has a history of filing frivolous suits (even to the point of trying to sue the US Supreme court. See this Washington Post story for more goodies.)

Silbley is also famous for representing, at one time, the late Deborah Jeanne Palfrey (the DC Madam). One thing Sinclair might have considered prior to hiring Sibley: Ms. Palfrey had dropped Sibley as her defense attorney in January because she'd "lost faith" in him. She preferred to represent herself in court rather than trust Sibley. But then, perhaps Sibley was the only one who would take Sinclair's case.

However, due to his contentious actions in the Sunshine State, the Florida bar suspended Sibley for three years beginning May, 2008. Apparently, the DC bar, in an act of reciprocal discipline, suspended Sibley today. (This information may be in dispute. please see below).

In a peculiar act of self-promotion, Sibley's website features a link to the Florida bar so that lawyer-seekers can "confirm that [he is] an attorney." Of course, the link takes you directly to a site that notifies the audience that while Sibley is an attorney, he is not in good standing.

So what does Sinclair do now? Seek another lawyer? Slink away? Will the judge throw the case out? Most importantly, what happens to all the money that Sinclair has been collecting from his supporters for his "legal fund"? We'll have to wait and see on this.

By the way, the inimitable folks at The Mitch and Nan Show (sworn enemies of attacks on free speech) should be lauded for their investigations into this demeritorious mess.

Update: Overlawyered has not been able to locate documentation on Sibley's alleged suspension (not disbarment) and has has retracted its post on the DC affair.

Update Two: The Progressive Review published this today: "Montgomery Blair Sibley, who represented the late DC Madam, Deborah Jeanne Palfrey has been suspended by the Florida bar for three years, resulting in reciprocal suspension in Washington, DC. 'He is someone who abuses the legal process,' said Barnaby Min, counsel for the Florida Bar."

Update Three: It's been confirmed. Montgomery Blair Sibley has been suspended from practicing law in Washington DC or in Florida.

Update Four: The Supreme Court has denied Sibley's application to stay the suspension; he refiled, and the Court will confer on January 16th, 2009. It doesn't look promising.

Final (?) Update: the Supreme Court has denied Sibley's application (01/21/09).

Larry Sinclair's "War": It Ain't Done Yet

The Lawrence W. (Larry) Sinclair debacle continues as he bravely battles against conspiracy, hypocrisy, and, well, bloggers.

Sinclair claims to have been intimate (while high on cocaine) with a presidential candidate. If you're not familiar with his story, which has actually been out there for a while now, just Google his name and plenty of sites will emerge that support Sinclair's claims (despite his lack of evidence).

For the opposition's point of view, visit The Mitch and Nan Show. They're as interested in questioning and disproving Sinclair's allegations as he is bent on destroying said presidential candidate. He's got a gang of supporters, including the notorious white supremacist-affiliated Vanguard News Network (and that is pretty telling), who have been occupying themselves with sending out mass emails to private citizens and to news media. They've also been creating and distributing flyers that repeat the sordid, kind of creepy, claims.

Despite all of the pro-Larry efforts, the Sinclair debunkers--Mitch and Nan et. al. seem to have been more successful at proving their case than Sinclair is at proving his. Rather than present evidence that supports his assertions, Sinclair simply piles accusation onto accusation; when challenged, he accuses people of working for politicians or he threatens lawsuits. Mitch and Nan, on the other hand, have been posting documents that either (further) undermine Sinclair's credibility or provide examples of contradictory statements or outright falsehoods that Sinclair has posted on his, and other, sites.

Unfortunately, some people have gone a little crazy with the Sinclair-directed hostility. Then again, he's given as good as he's got. Without the added excitement of the presidential element, this would be just another online pissing contest / flame war.
